The launcher installs Strafewave and checks for future game updates. Available for Windows and Linux, 64-bit.

Getting started

  1. Extract the whole launcher archive into its own folder.
  2. Windows: open StrafewaveLauncher.exe. Linux: run ./StrafewaveLauncher in a graphical desktop session.
  3. Choose Install game, then Play.

Already playing? Choose Find existing game…, select your extracted game folder, then update. Your original folder is kept.

Your progress stays yours

Updates preserve your existing settings, identity, downloaded maps and shared demos. Local replays, demos, custom music and optional Q3 assets are copied to the new version. Q3 assets are not included in these public downloads.

Updates are signed and checked before installation. Interrupted downloads can resume. Verify / repair fixes damaged files, and Previous version restores a verified earlier installation.

Before installing

Close the game for updates and allow about 4 GB of free space. Linux requires an X11/XWayland desktop and Vulkan graphics drivers. Installation and update checks pass on Ubuntu 24.04; desktop graphics, audio and input still need player testing.

The Windows launcher is not yet Authenticode-signed. Download only from this page; do not disable security software. This version updates the game, not the launcher itself.
